We went to the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy to find out why it is important for school boards to fund professional development in digital literacy. We interviewed media specialists, K-12 teachers, college professors, and administrators to learn about the benefits of and barriers to digital literacy professional development. As first-time participants of the Summer Institute in Digital Literacy at URI, we were blown away by the ideas, resources, and strategies that we learned about through this one-week institute.
